
Physician and computer scientist Hans Rudolf Straub has been researching the principles of free text analysis since 1989, developing semantic methods to present and interpret texts. The methods were first published in the book “The interpreting system” in 2001.
Semfinder AG was founded in 1999 (operating under the name Meditext AG until 2002). Its shareholders are: Hans Rudolf Straub, Maurus Duelli, Kathrin Mosimann and Tobias Mosimann. Semfinder stands for “semantic finder”.
In 2003 the company started selling the Semfinder Diagnosis Coding in Germany, through a joint venture with SBG Software und Beratung im Gesundheitswesen – Berlin (now part of 3M). From the start, users have really taken to the innovative approach and the exceptional coding quality of Semfinder.
Semfinder has been distributed in Switzerland since 2008 and in Austria since 2010.
Today more than 300 hospitals in Germany and 30 in Switzerland number among our satisfied customers.
